For the Portofino Hand-Wound Day & Date, IWC designers and watchmakers combined a large date display with a day display, creating a timepiece that is both attractive and useful. The date can be easily read via the large digital display at 12 oclock. This is achieved through two synchronized discs: the first of these shows the tens from 0 to 3, while the second shows the single digits from 0 to 9. The perfectly choreographed interplay between the two discs is powered by the IWC 59230 calibre. The day display is linked to the date change mechanism. This 8-day movement runs with supreme accuracy for 192 hours when fully wound. After that, the owner needs to supply the watch with renewed energy by winding the crown. The power reserve display on the dial reminds them when this needs to be done. The watch is available in a stainless-steel version with a silver-plated dial, rhodium-plated hands and indices and a black leather strap from Santoni.
